To apply for the Certificate in Aviation - Commercial Pilot License Helicopter Applicants must complete the following steps:
Step One: Complete the online HFT Pilot Evaluator
Step Two: Undertake the COMPASS computer based, 2 hour test. This provides tasks on, memory, reaction, coordination, reasoning, and mathematics. A Psychometric evaluation is included within the tests.
Step Three: Take a hands-on helicopter trial flight
Step Four: Attend the HFT Pilot Selection Day. This is conducted over a full day and consists of various skills tests, a teamwork based exercise and panel interviews.
Step Five: Complete a 200 word essay on: 'why you want to become a Helicopter pilot and what your future career goals are'.
Step Six: Complete the CAA class 1 Medical and the MOT, Fit and Proper Person process checks.
Course Requirements
A person must reach the age of 18 years of age by the end of the Certificate programme.
Have sufficient ability in reading, speaking and understanding the English language
Complete a written application including evidence of skills based on two (2) references
Complete the HFT Pilot Selection process

Our Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) training programme has duration of 52 weeks.
It is a full time course that requires dedication and commitment to meet the standards set by New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
This CPL licence programme has 152 hours of actual helicopter flight training. There are six (6) theory modules with written exams at the completion of each module.
